students at Relaxation Night showing their homemade candles

In my opinion, this is one of the best events on campus! I can’t say enough good things about how awesome Health & Counseling makes this night for students! This blog is here to prepare you and give you all the tips and tricks so you can take a little of the stress out of this relaxing night!

Show up early!
You may not be the type that’s ready to wait in Shults ahead of time for the doors to open but I recommend you find some energy in you to become that type because it gets busy fast! The signup table for massages, acupuncture, reiki, and more is usually the first place people head to. Those slots fill up quickly so get to them before you miss out.

Wear comfy clothes.
This is one of those days where pajamas are not just acceptable but encouraged! How are you supposed to get an amazing massage on top of your jean jacket?

Make sure you’re hungry!
I’m not saying don’t eat dinner before you come, but just make sure you have some room left because there are plenty of snacks provided at relaxation night. There are sweet and savory options, so don’t rule anything out!

Disconnect.
To enjoy the effects of this night and the experience fully, keep your phone in your pocket and try everything there is to offer. If you’re glued to your phone, you’re going to miss out if they announce an opening for acupuncture or announce you as the raffle winner.

Bring friends OR come by yourself.
This is one of those events where you can flow with the group, whether it be you and your roommates or the people you just met at the stress ball-making table. I have been to this event by myself and with friends and can honestly say I enjoyed the experience.

Bring a tote bag!
With so much to do at relaxation night and so many projects to make, you’re going to need somewhere to put them!

While Relaxation Night may only come around once a semester, you can find new and fun ways to practice self-care all over campus, all year round. Get connected with Health and Counseling through social media to stay up to date with other events!
