The summer before your college freshman year is filled with so many people telling you what you absolutely need or do not need to take to campus. Here are the top five things that I did not know I needed but am glad that I brought with me.
Slippers
I use them every single day. When I wanted to jump out of my bed to go to the bathroom or go to the dining hall, slippers were a great option! They are so comfortable.
A Stool
Raising your bed allows you to store things underneath and add more storage. Having more storage is so helpful. I am a short person, so a stool allowed me to have my bed higher and not have to have a running start into my bed each night.
A Power Strip
There never seem to be enough plugs. A power strip absolutely saved me so that I was able to charge my laptop, have a lamp plugged in, and keep my mini fridge running. Make sure that it is surge protected to fit residential life requirements.
An Oil Diffuser
No candles are allowed in residence halls. A great alternative is an oil diffuser, which smells great and doesn’t have a flame. It gives you options for so many different scents. My personal favorites are vanilla and orange!
Bed Sheet Holders
When you are jumping in and out of your bed every day it can definitely make the sheets move and shift. I got so annoyed with having to fix them every day. I put bed sheet holders on my fitted sheet to help keep it in place!
